Schroders Capital Names New Asia Pacific Real Estate Head

There's a top-level management change at the investment business in Asia.
Schroders Capital, the $111 billion private markets business of UK-listed investment manager Schroders, has appointed Junnosuke Ando (pictured) as head of real estate for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, effective 29 September.
Ando, who will be based in Singapore, will work with the regional team in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo, the firm said in a statement.
Andrew Moore, current head of Asia Pacific real estate, will assume the role of chairman, Asia Pacific real estate. He will continue to be based in Hong Kong, the firm continued.
With over 20 years of real estate experience in both GP and LP investing, Ando joins Schroders Capital from his position as head of real estate, Asia Pacific at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), a Canadian pension with $29 billion of real estate net assets under management (AuM). At OTPP he was tasked with a real estate private equity strategy focused on growing thematic investments, and managing the OTPP indirect real estate portfolio.
Ando played a key role in strategies such as investment into Gateway Capital, a boutique logistics asset manager, and growth of a build-to-rent mandate in Australia. Prior to his tenure at OTPP, he spent 15 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was most recently a managing director in their special situations/principal investment business.
Based in Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney, Ando played an important part in the buildout of their southeast Asia real estate portfolio from 2008 to 2012, and the growth of their special situations investment business in Australia from 2012 to 2021, investing across the capital stack and in various investment strategies, such as non-performing loan workouts, value-add, alternative asset classes, and specialised loan origination products.
